Whereas it has been extensively documented in Texas and throughout the country the partisan influence private money had in previous elections;

Whereas the Texas Election Code allows any individual or outside organization to contribute up to $1,000, monetarily or in-kind donations;

Whereas to increase voter confidence in the fairness of our elections and keep the corrupting influence of private money and power out of the election administration process,

Be it resolved, we urge the Texas Legislature to enact legislation prohibiting any private funding, whether monetary or in-kind donations, of election officials and government agencies.
