Whereas the United States Constitution protects the rights of Americans to freely own a business without undue government interference and the first amendment of the United States Constitution specifically guarantees the freedom of assembly; and
Whereas, the capitalistic society of our great nation is built upon the freedom of each and every American to own and operate their own business free from government control; and
Whereas, Governor Greg Abbott's executive order GA 08 And GA 14 violated the constitutional right to assembly by ordering Texans not to be in gatherings of more than ten people; and
Whereas, these executive orders violated the rights of individuals to own and operate a business and infringed upon the capitalistic values of this state and nation; and
Whereas, these executive orders discriminated against small business owners while rewarding large corporations; and
Whereas, the state has the obligation to protect our constitutional rights and capitalistic economic system; and
Whereas the Republican Party of Texas has a duty to hold their elected officials responsible when they violate the constitutional rights of Texans; now therefore
Be it resolved that we urge the Texas Legislature to enact legislation forbidding the governor from declaring any executive orders that limits the free assembly of individuals and the rights of any business to operate freely, in the manner that each business owner decides is best for themselves, regardless of whether a state or national emergency is declared. Furthermore, be it resolved that we the Republican Party of Texas recognizes these rights in our platform and will censor any elected official that violates them.
Adopted this day of 3-3-2022 , at the Precinct Convention of Precinct #2281 of the Republican Party of Texas.
